This is a user guide, terms and conditions for using LocalPuzzle.com and, for joining us as a retailer and for advertising to our retailers through LocalPuzzle.com/b2b/.
1. What is LocalPuzzle.com?
LocalPuzzle.com aims to level the playing field for independent businesses by piecing together local people, local businesses and local good causes, watch our video to find out more.
2. How do I send in my receipts to claim bonus points and extra lives?
You can earn bonus points by shopping with any independent businesses in the UK or Channel Islands then sending us a photo of your receipt here. The receipt must be a valid receipt, issued by the business. If the business is a full member, you will earn a number of points per pound that you spend (meaning the more you spend, the more points you get), the exact figure varies by business and is visible to you here. If the business is not a full member or is not listed on this site you will receive 2,000 points for visiting them and sending us a photo of your receipt. This constitutes a referral of that business to us by you.
Purchases made through an online intermediary such as Amazon or eBay do not count. This may change soon.
There's a few rules to keep things fair, you can either read them here or just go ahead and send us your receipts below, we'll soon tell you if there's a problem.
- Receipts to be no older than 7 days
- The receipt must be a valid receipt, issued by the business
- One receipt per photo
- Receipts to be submitted up to 24 hours before the prize round deadline here
- One receipt / transaction per business per day (based on the transaction date not the submission date). There's no limit on how many different business you can visit in one day
- Please cross out any sensitive information such as your name and card details
- Clear, legible photos that show the amount spent, date and time where appropriate
- If the name of the company is not on the receipt, please write it on

- Your receipts may take up to 24 hours to process
3. Do the people who spend the most earn the most?
No. The people who earn the most are those that take the time to work out how best to score points. Lots of points are scored from shopping, but bonus points can also be scored from free activities such as recruiting friends and businesses. It's no secret that this is in effect helping us with our sales and marketing, as such we reward you. Free points can also be scored from solving puzzles - which is a great way to get the whole family involved.
4. What are Puzzle Lives?
To solve sliding puzzle or enter promotional puzzle codes, costs you puzzle lives. You start with 50 lives at the beginning of each prize round and can increase your lives by sending us photos of your receipts.
5. Businesses that can join LocalPuzzle.com
A business is eligible to join LocalPuzzle.com if, at the time of joining, they turn over less than £5 million annually and have 10 or less units with the same name registered with a company number in the UK or Channel Islands or are a pub registered in the UK or Channel Islands that is not managed by a brewery. The business must have a physical address in the UK or Channel Islands that they are happy to be published online. Activate your business here.
6. How does LocalPuzzle.com donate to the charities and schools involved?
Each player at LocalPuzzle.com can vote for a charity or school from our list to receive a sum of money at the end of specified period. The sum of money will be donated by LocalPuzzle.com to the charity or school that has the most votes at the end of the specified period. Each player will accumulate 1 vote for every point they score playing the puzzle and using LocalPuzzle.com's recommended businesses as advertised. Players points accumulate across each prize round i.e. they are never lost. Charities and schools have the highest chances of winning if lots of players vote for them and those players themselves score a high number of points each.
7. How do you add a charity or school to the list?
You need to finish in the top 20 of any prize round. If this applies to you, please contact us from your registered email address with the details of the charity or school that you would like added to our list.
8. How do I claim my cash?
When you earn cash back, you'll be contacted via your registered email (so it's worth checking your spam and junk folders). Once you provide your name and postal address, we will send you a cheque with your earnings. One person may earn up to one cheque per cash round only i.e. we will not award the same person more than one cheque per cash round. You must be a UK resident to be eligible to cash back. Some cash prizes have a specific Minimum Transactions Requirement as per 9. below.
9. Minimum Transactions Requirement
To be eligible to earn cash back equal to or in excess of £5 you must have made at least 10 transactions with independent merchants 24 hours ahead of the conclusion of the corresponding cash round. A transaction can either be the uploading of a valid receipt (as per item 2. above) or a purchase through the online market. In the case of the online market, a single transaction is considered the payment for one or more goods in a single basket.
10. Abusing the 'spirit of the LocalPuzzle'
LocalPuzzle.com reserves the right to disqualify any player at any time that is believed to be abusing the spirit of the LocalPuzzle. The user can appeal to this decision, however in such case the details of the perceived abuse shall be published to all other users, businesses, schools and charities for them to decide the outcome by majority. Please note that random audits are performed of users accounts.
11. Attempts to hack our website can lead to imprisonment
Attempts to hack our website will be viewed as a criminal offense that is punishable by imprisonment. More info.
All points earned from any purchase will be removed if the goods or services are returned and a refund (whole or part) is provided. This can affect your eligibility to earn cash back even after a round has concluded.
Puzzle Points will be awarded when purchasing vouchers however Puzzle Points will not be awarded when redeeming vouchers.
